  • Day 1

    Fly to Germany

    Climb aboard for our overnight flight across the Atlantic Ocean to Frankfurt, Germany. Enjoy in-flight meals and entertainment while anticipating the trip of a lifetime!

  • Day 2

    Arrive in Frankfurt / Rothenburg

    The day is well underway as we arrive in Frankfurt, Germany where a deluxe motorcoach awaits us. Our afternoon drive leads to medieval Rothenburg, one of the world’s most lovely and well-preserved walled cities. After dinner at our hotel, we’ll take the famous Night Watchman’s tour. Follow along through the cobblestone streets as the watchman makes his nightly rounds, describing what life was like here centuries ago.

  • Day 3

    Munich, Germany / Hofbrauhaus

    This morning is set aside so you can explore this fascinating city. You’ll feel as though you are back in the 16th century. Visit Kathe Wohlfart’s world-famous Christmas Store with its marvelous displays. Perhaps make a visit to the Museum of Medieval Justice, home to the instruments of torture, punishment, and execution of a bygone era. Off we go in the afternoon for a drive along Germany’s “Romantic Road” which leads us to Munich, the capital city of Bavaria and the site of the 1972 Summer Olympics. See the Marienplatz and its beautiful New City Hall with chimes displaying a medieval tournament and dance. Nearby, the Karolinenplatz is surrounded by buildings such as the Glyptothek and the State Gallery. Tonight we’ll go out for dinner and entertainment at the world-famous Hofbrauhaus.

  • Day 4

    Herrenchiemsee New Palace / Salzburg, Austria

    We’ll enjoy some free time in Munich before departing for a visit to Herrenchiemsee New Palace. Built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, this palace is modeled on the Palace at Versailles. Afterward we’ll continue on the road to Salzburg, Austria. This charming city welcomes us with picturesque streets filled with wrought-iron signs, noble-architecture, and highly decorated fountains. Upon arrival, we’ll check in at our hotel for a two-night stay.

  • Day 5

    Salzburg Sightseeing

    In the morning we’ll have an introductory tour to see Salzburg Cathedral, Mozart’s birthplace, and St. Peter’s Abbey which was seen frequently in the “Sound of Music”. The afternoon is at your leisure in Salzburg. Visit Old Town to browse in the shops or take a trip to the Winkler Terrace for a view over the city. Tonight you can select from the many restaurants located near the hotel.

  • Day 6

    Swarovski Crystal / Innsbruck

    Travel west from Salzburg this morning to enter the Inn River Valley en route to the capital of the Austrian Tyrol at the town of Innsbruck. A walking tour will take us into Old Town where we’ll see Old Town Hall and Belfry, and the Little Golden Roof. This is a perfect place to scatter for some lunch and to browse in the shops. In the afternoon we make our way to our lodging near Oberammergau for some relaxation and a nice evening meal.

  • Day 7

    Oberammergau Passion Play

    Today we will experience the most important Passion Play in the world. Since 1634, this play has been performed every ten years by the inhabitants of Oberammergau. It portrays the Passion of Christ and is meant to honor this town’s survival through the plague and Thirty Years’ War. Over 2000 inhabitants of this village participate in this life-changing performance and we’ll have Category 1 seating for the group. Dinner is included in a break during the performance. Afterwards, we’ll return to our hotel for the evening.

  • Day 8

    Swiss Alps / Glacier Express Train

    Today is a travel day you won’t soon forget. Enjoy a panoramic trip through the Alps in the heart of Switzerland. We’ll travel on the Glacier Express Train through the unspoiled natural beauty of a land rich in fragrant mountain forests, peaceful Alpine meadows, rushing streams, and mountain valleys. Towering, soaring peaks, and awesome glaciers will leave you in awe. Our destination will be the resort town of Zermatt. Upon arrival in this pedestrian village, a three-minute walk will bring us to our hotel for a two-night stay.

  • Day 9

    Matterhorn / Rack Railway

    Awake today in a mountain paradise. Nestled in a deep valley enclosed between steeply scarped mountains, it is dominated by the huge and gracefully curved pyramid of the Matterhorn. When you see the cobbled streets and horses with carriages patiently waiting for their rides, you know you are in a special place. Enjoy free-time in this village where the air is free and alpine. While here, we’ll take the Rack Railway ride up the Gornergrat to see views of the spectacular Matterhorn as well as Mount Rosa.

    Overnight: Zermatt Hotel - Zermatt, Switzerland

  • Day 10

    Mount Pilatus / Lake Lucerne

    Leave Zermatt this morning, but not the beautiful scenery! A train will deliver us to nearby Tasch where we will rejoin our motorcoach and driver. Our journey will then lead us to Alpnachstad, where we use the cog railway to reach the summit of Mount Pilatus. Pass streams, steep rock faces and fields of wildflowers before arriving on the mountaintop. Here we enjoy an unforgettable, panoramic view over Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountain ranges. We’ll then descend the other side of the mountain aboard an aerial lift and continue to Lucerne where we’ll spend our final two nights. This day of visual wonders will not soon be forgotten!

  • Day 11

    Lucern, Switzerland

    A morning walking tour of Lucerne awaits us! See the Mills Bridge and view the painted gables depicting the “Dance of Death”. Walk across the Chapel Bridge to view the 112 paintings that tell the history of Lucerne and Switzerland. Continue through Old Town past painted facades, flower-decked fountains, and charming houses. We’ll see the famous Lion monument carved out of natural rock to honor the Swiss Guard. The afternoon is set aside for your own explorations. Enjoy the lake, visit the Glacier Gardens, do some shopping, or walk in old Town. Tonight, gather with your travel companions to enjoy a fine Swiss dinner.

  • Day 12

    Travel Home

    Sadly, our travels in the Heart of Europe must come to an end. Travel to Zurich by motorcoach this morning and fly back home. We’ll clear customs and immigration upon arrival.
